Was its own city before being annexed by Akron in 1929, with a commercial spine along Kenmore Boulevard that became the first Akron community business district added to the National Register of Historic Places (2019). The Better Kenmore CDC has driven a deep revitalization since 2016: at last count there were a dozen music-related businesses inside a three-block radius — two guitar shops, six recording studios, two live music venues, plus music schools — earning the corridor the nickname Akron's "Music Row." Most of the new businesses are owned by Kenmore residents, and more than half are female- or minority-owned. Expect a calendar of independent music shows, community pop-ups, business-district events, and community-development programs.
